Having trouble opening, saving or printing PDFs?
Are you having trouble opening, saving or printing PDF documents, such as journal articles or theses? Try these trouble-shooting tips:
1. Ensure you have Adobe Reader installed and at least version 9
2. Which web browser are you using? Instead of opening it directly, try right clicking on the file and...
- IE: choose 'Save Target As'
- Firefox/Chrome: choose 'Save Link As'
- Safari: choose 'Download Linked File'
3. Try another browser
4. Or try opening the PDF in Adobe Reader rather than the browser. This seems to solve most PDF problems:
- Click Start –> Programs –> Adobe Reader
- In Adobe Reader, click Edit –> Preferences –> Internet
- Untick 'Display PDF in browser'
- Click 'OK' and close Adobe Reader
- PDFs will then display in Adobe Reader instead of in your browser window.

Update Your Massey Wireless Connection Today
Massey’s wireless network is changing to improve security. Information Technology Services (ITS) are introducing a new certificate for authentication, which is required on all equipment using the wireless network. If your computer uses a Windows Operating System you may prepare your computer for the changes now, to avoid any problems on the day of the network changes.
The planned changes will affect all of Massey's wireless network users on these dates:
Turitea and Hokowhitu - Monday 25 July 2011
Albany and Wellington - Monday 1 August 2011
ITS staff will be available to help with the changes on all Massey campuses.
For information on how to prepare now, what to do after the change, and where to go for help, please see Wireless Network Changes 2011.
Computer Skills Help Sheets
We now have help sheets for Microsoft Office 2010, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, joining the ones already available for Office 2003 and 2007.
These help sheets step you through common computer-related tasks, particularly those needed for producing a well-presented assignment. They are available in the Library in print, or online.
The online sheets are a collaboration between the Library's IT Assistants, and the Centre for Teaching and Learning's OWLL website:
