Brookers New Zealand Legal Databases are migrating to a new platform. This is causing intermittent errors when doing certain searches, especially very general searches across many databases.

For the moment, the workarounds are:
• Use Firefox. Brookers does not support Chrome or Safari.
• Clear your cache (select Firefox – History – Clear Recent History – Time range to clear: Everything – Clear Now)
• Be selective with your databases, e.g. if you are searching NZ Law Partner Legislation and Cases, click it to open it up and tick only the sub-databases that you need.

Access to PsychiatryOnline, which includes the DSM Library, is temporarily unavailable. We hope to have access restored as soon as possible, but do not yet have a time frame. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Nursing Education in Video is now available through the Library, after overwhelmingly positive feedback during the trial last October. It's an online collection of videos created specifically for the education and training of nurses, nursing assistants, and other healthcare workers, with transcripts synchronized to video to allow you to search and quickly locate footage related to a particular topic.

One student commented on the trial:

"These nursing videos are a really useful resource that help to clarify areas of our nursing studies that are hard to understand from reading a text book. I think they would be very beneficial to our course."

Users of the SciFinder Database should note that as from the beginning of 2012 the desktop version is no longer available. The web version provides full functionality including the ability to search for references through the drawing of chemical structures. SciFinder is best searched by using natural language search queries - e.g. the effects of green tea on bone strength. Use of SciFinder is limited to five simultaneous sessions so please log out when you have finished using it.

The Times Digital Archive has extended its coverage from 1785 through to 2006 (previously 1985). It offers a full image of every page published by the Times (London) during this period, and the text within the images is fully searchable.
