Te Ara Oho Mairangi - The Celestial Beacon: Navigating Maori Research

In the same way that our ancestors looked to the stars and other natural features to navigate their way across the Pacific, Maori researchers look to knowledge that has been passed down as ways to guide us through kaupapa Maori research. Our research journeys require us to weave the tentacles of relationships which are founded in reciprocity between ourselves, our communities and the academy. Navigating these multiple accountabilities relies as much upon the teachings of our ancestors as it does on the contemporary contexts within which we live and research. Te Ara Oho Mairangi seeks to shed light on the complex and multiple pathways of kaupapa Maori research and the spaces in which they diverge as well as meet.

Albany librarians invite Auckland-based postgrads to come to our presentation of the latest shiny new resources, mobile apps and software to add to your research toolkits. You will also be able to meet your College Liaison Librarians and chat with them. No need to register – just drop by.

Albany Library has recently appointed several new librarians, including Amanda Cooper, the new Albany Campus Librarian.

The Albany Information & Learning Services team is now lead by Jane Clark, with three new faces: Vanessa Gibson, who comes to us from Waitakere Libraries; Kate Stanton, who has transferred up from Turitea Library; and Marc Burnett, our new Sunday Information Librarian. Rohini Subbian has taken over as Head of Lending & Document Supply.
